MINUTES OF: October 15, 2024 MEETING

PRESENT: Mayor: Bob Sandak, Deputy Mayor: Jacquelyn Gernaey

Trustees: James J. von Oiste, Leza Di Bella

Others present: Clerk Treasurer Joanne Raso; Deputy Clerk Treasurer Barbara Sakovich

& Village Attorney Eileen Powers.

Absent: Trustee Mike Solo

The board went into executive session before the public meeting to discuss a litigation matter. No action was taken.

MEETING CONVENED AT 8:07 pm

MINUTES: A motion was made by Trustee Gernaey, seconded by Trustee von Oiste to dispense with the reading of the September minutes. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT: A motion was made by Trustee Gernaey, seconded by Trustee von Oiste to dispense with the reading of the September treasurer’s report.

III. CORRESPONDENCE: There was no correspondence to report.

MAYOR’S REPORT: The mayor reported that bids for the snow removal contract were opened at the work session this evening. Of the six bid packets that were distributed to vendors, only two were submitted, one from Suffolk Snow Services and one from LI Firewood & Mulch.

The mayor will contact both vendors to be sure they meet all of the criteria of the bid specs before the board makes a decision.

COMMISSIONER’S REPORTS:
BUILDINGS: Commissioner Di Bella reported that parts have been ordered to repair the kitchen door at the community center. The oil furnace at the gatehouse has a cracked heat exchange and is out of service. Estimates have been received for its replacement, which she is reviewing, and will make a decision in a few days.
PARKS: Mayor Sandak reported for commissioner Solo, that the final organic tick treatment has been made at the park.
ROADS: New drainage is scheduled to be installed on Hemlock Path, Deer Path and Crooked Oak Road. Roadside edge repair and drainage is also being scheduled on several roads.
CONSTABULARY: Commissioner Sandak reported there were 35 calls for service in September.

V: MOTIONS:

Motion by Trustee Gernaey, seconded by Trustee von Oiste was passed unanimously to approve for payment the abstract of audited vouchers in the amount of $52,164.56. Motion carried
Motion by Trustee von Oiste to give the mayor authority to sign a contract for snow removal with the lowest responsible bidder upon the approval of the village attorney. Seconded by Trustee Di Bella and passed unanimously.

MEETING OPENED TO THE PUBLIC:

A resident asked about a certified mail notification left at her address, wanting to know what it was in reference to.

There being no further comments, the meeting was adjourned.
